Mission Briefing

Join the annual reindeer migration across the Arctic tundra. Master 10 survival quests combining traditional Sámi ecological knowledge (árbediehtu) and climate science.

The Spring Migration: Race to the Arctic Coast (Giđđajohtin) is an authentic educational escape room in social studies, indigenous culture, and ecology.

Students step into the shoes of young reindeer herders in an indigenous Sámi siida, taking part in the season's most critical journey: traversing 200 kilometers across the Finnmark Plateau with 2,000 reindeer before spring thawing breaks the river ice.

Through 10 authentic, tactile challenges, students explore traditional Sámi ecological knowledge (árbediehtu): harnessing the raido sled caravan, reading snow layers (skavvi, seana, čiegar), pitching the lávvu tent in a blizzard, warding off wolf predators, lassoing with the suohpan, navigating fracturing lake ice, and guiding the herd across coastal fjords.

100% free for schools, requiring no login, offering a vibrant, respectful, and deep exploration of indigenous heritage and environmental stewardship.
