The Story Behind Word Hunt: From a Bus Ride to an App
Word Hunt holds a very special place in my journey – it was the first mobile puzzle app I ever built! The whole concept began on a daily bus commute. I loved "one word a day" games like Wordle, but felt that only solving one puzzle a day left you wanting more. When you have 10 spare minutes, you want to solve puzzle after puzzle at your own pace!
I was also tired of mobile games constantly interrupted by annoying video ads. That's why Word Hunt was born: a clean, relaxing word finding puzzle with beautiful themes, smooth controls, and satisfying progression.
How to Become a Word Hunting Master
The rules are simple yet delightfully challenging. You are given a grid of letters, and your goal is to locate all hidden words. They can run horizontally, vertically, diagonally, or even backward. Follow these master tips to spot words in record time:
- Hunt for Rarer Letters: When searching for a word like "VIKING", start by scanning for 'V' or 'K' rather than common vowels like 'I'. Uncommon consonants stand out instantly.
- Scan Line by Line: Rather than drifting aimlessly over the board, sweep your gaze across one row or column at a time.
- Check Neighboring Tiles: Once you locate the first letter, quickly glance at the 8 surrounding tiles to find the second letter. If missing, move on immediately.
Play in 6 Languages
Since its launch, Word Hunt has expanded globally. You can now train your brain in six different languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Norwegian! It is a wonderful way to expand your vocabulary whether in your native language or one you are learning.
